The Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John tell the story of Jesus earthly ministry and how we can be saved from our sin by God's grace through faith in Jesus and His death and resurrection. AFTER Jesus ascended into heaven He set apart His disciples, called the Church to continue the ministry of Jesus and to be witnesses of Him and His salvation to the World.
Heavenly Father promised a helper, called the Holy Spirit and fill the Church with power to be witnesses of Jesus to the whole world. The book of Acts is all about this storyline and how the ministry of Jesus continued through the Spirit and the Church.
The Church across the globe today desperately needs the power of the Spirit. We are incapable of being the kind of witnesses God intends us to be without the empowering work of the Holy Spirit in our lives and church. When we read the book of Acts this deep hunger for the empowering ministry of the Holy Spirit can be awakened. We are believing and praying for the for power of God to be demonstrated today through the church of Jesus Christ with boldness to proclaim the gospel, to serve the poor and needy, suffer for Christ, heal the sick, bring supernatural unity, send missionaries and church planters, give sacrificially, and so on.
These themes of what it looks like to be a church and a people filled with the Spirit are the focus of our study in the book of Acts. We are earnestly praying for an increase of God's presence and power to love and serve with Jesus together, today!
