1 Oh sing to the Lord a new song,
    for he has done marvelous things!
His right hand and his holy arm
    have worked salvation for him.

3 He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness
    to the house of Israel.
All the ends of the earth have seen

    with the lyre and the sound of melody!
 

6 With trumpets and the sound of the horn
    make a joyful noise before the King, the Lord!

7 Let the sea roar, and all that fills it;
    the world and those who dwell in it!
 

8 Let the rivers clap their hands;
    let the hills sing for joy together
 

9 before the Lord, for he comes
    to judge the earth.
He will judge the world with righteousness,
    and the peoples with equity.

“Sing to the Lord a new song,

The Lord had made his salvation known

and revealed his righteousness to the nations.” Psalm 98:1-2

I love this. I love praising God. Because he has done great things. He’s the healer, the righteous one, he’s the reason I’m so happy.

He’s brings joy in even the smallest of things, and hope in the worst of days.

What I think is especially amazing about God (there are a lot of things, but I’ll just focus on one) is that he has the ability to turn things around.

He does that by showing up, in very real tangible ways.

One of the most memorable times I ever experienced this, I was sitting by my brother in the hospital. I was holding his lifeless hand and asking God, pleading with God, to let my brother go. Let him die, if that was his will. But if not, then I wanted God to show up. I wanted God to bring him to life again; to turn everything around. To do the unexpected.

And in that moment God said that he would bring my brother to life, that it wasn’t time for him to die yet.

And God did that, he fulfilled his promise, in some pretty cool ways.

But that’s a long story. My point is that God is a God that shows up, in ways that are undeniable. He does that for each of us differently; he shoulders up next to us and introduces himself as God.

That is why I can’t stop praising him, because he’s good. He’s personable. He is so worthy of love.

I trust him as my friend. That trust turns into praise, and that praise evolves into acceptance of God’s will.

I trust God’s goodness and his judgement, even till the end of the world.

“...let them sing before the Lord, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the people with equity.” Psalm 98:9
