Praise the LORD. Praise the LORD, O my soul. 

I will praise the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.

Do not put your trust in princes, in mortal men, who cannot save. 

When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing.

Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God,

the Maker of heaven and earth the sea, and everything in them--the LORD, who remains faithful forever. 

He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. The LORD sets prisoners free,

the LORD gives sight to the blind, the LORD lifts up those who are bowed down, the LORD loves the righteous. 

The LORD watches over the alien and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but he frustrates the ways of the wicked. The LORD reigns forever, your God, O Zion, for all generations. Praise the LORD.

Do you take the time out of your day to simply just stop what you’re doing to praise the LORD? Truthfully, I believe that taking the time out of your day to praise Him is one of the greatest ways to spend your time with God. If there is one big takeaway from reading through the book of Psalms, it is that we are meant to live a life that praises God with all of our heart and soul, each and every day that we have! I urge all of you who are reading this to take some time in the next few days to reflect on what God has spoken to you through the book of Psalms. This will be very important for you to see the growth in your walk in Christ over these past five months reading through the Psalms!

This psalm reinforces the concept that we are to praise Him in abundance: “I will praise the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live” (v.2). Wherever we are at in life, we praise God because He is good. In verse 3, we are reminded not to put our trust in mortal men, who cannot save. Rather, we trust and praise the LORD, for He is the One who saves us. Furthermore, verses 5-10 reinforce His promises over us. He remains faithful forever (v.6). He comforts the oppressed and feeds the hungry (v.7). He lifts up those who have humbled themselves before Him (v.8). He takes care of the outsider, the fatherless, and the widow (v.9). He is certainly worthy of our praise and these promises show us a multitude of things for which we can praise Him!

We thank You Father that You are worthy of our praise. We thank You also for the ability to come boldly before Your throne even when we are weighed down by the weight of this world. LORD I am confident that when we drop what we are doing to praise You, not only will You be lifted high, but we will be lifted up by the contentment and peace that comes from putting our hope in You. God, we long to sing praise to You as long as we live. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
