Psalm 133

Jorine Johnson

April 13, 2016

1 How good and pleasant it is

when God’s people live together in unity!

2 It is like precious oil poured on the head,

running down on the beard,

running down on Aaron’s beard,

down on the collar of his robe.

3 It is as if the dew of Hermon

were falling on Mount Zion.

For there the Lord bestows his blessing,

even life forevermore.

This is a short psalm, but it is one of my favorite psalms in the Bible that expressed the beauty and the goodness of community in the Lord. The first verse says how good it is for God’s people to live in unity. Unity as a oneness in Spirit and in mind. It is something that is considered beautiful and previous. The comparison of oil makes it a rich and precious thing. Since it runs on Aaron’s beard as the High Priest, it was anointed holy and set apart. And there is God’s blessings in his community when his people gather together in his name.
