November Fast

November 2, 2020

For Wednesday 11/4/20 Prayer and Fasting- God's Promises

Here are just a few of God’s many promises. Be encouraged.

John 14:27 (NIV)
27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Romans 8:37-39 (NIV)
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,
39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

2 Peter 1:3-4 (NIV)
3 His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)
28 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

For Tuesday 11/3/20 Prayer and Fasting – Warfare

Daily PBJ Reading (1 Chronicles 7, Revelation 7:1-7)

In the Old Testament, the Hebrew nation was required to fight physical battles to take and to keep the land that God had prepared for them. It was important to record how many fighting men were ready for war.

1 Chronicles 7:40 (NIV)
40 All these were descendants of Asher--heads of families, choice men, brave warriors and outstanding leaders. The number of men ready for battle, as listed in their genealogy, was 26,000.

In the last days, God will specifically note those who are overcomers in a spiritual battle.

Revelation 7:3 (NIV)
3 "Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God."

Revelation 3:12 (NIV)
12 Him who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will he leave it. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on him my new name.

Being ready to fight a battle required preparation, training, and discipline. Today, our battle is against a spiritual enemy, so our preparation, training, and discipline has to be spiritual. Eph 6 gives us guidance on how to prepare for this battle.

Ephesians 6:12-18 (NIV)
12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,
15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

All of this takes effort. God asks us to be prepared. Are we doing what is required to be prepared each day for the battle for our own soul and for the souls of those around us?

For Monday 11/2/20 Prayer and Fasting – Humility

Daily PBJ Reading (Psalms 81, Luke 18:9-14)

Luke 18:14 (NIV)
14 "I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV)
14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

God asks us to humble ourselves. He does not say wait for humility or pray for humility. This is a decision we must each make. This choice brings us to a point of realizing that, without God, we are unable to redeem ourselves, our family, our city, or our nation. We must trust God to bring about redemption. Humility brings us to our knees in prayer.
